Technically, summer has already dawn on Oz. But then, it is never too late to slim down and get fit~!
For me, in order to slim down and get fit, I don't like adhering to endless and often out of this world dietings. I am sorry if I sounded mean when I say out-of-this-world dietings, but that is only cause I LOVE food. I have nothing against Atkins or Dukan or whatever more diets there are in this world, but recently I read about a 600-800cal a day no-gluten, no-lactose, no-wheat diet. OMG! I think I am going to faint!! The followers even forgo travelling and eating out because the diet requires meticulous planning, preparation and balancing. Imagine always weighting your food and calculating calories every single time you put that spoon in your mouth!! Pure torture~!
I hate diets that totally depends on certain food while adhering to some mega super food~! Have you heard of the cabbage soup diet? Or total salad? Or only protein and no carbs? Horrible nightmare~! I love getting fit, or even the feel that my jeans are no longer tightly hugging my butt, but totally eliminating certain food from my diet?? Too big of a sacrifice!! And for what? So one dress or jeans could fit me?? NEWSFLASH to jeans and dresses out there, YOU need to suit ME~! (In case of any confusion. =P )
But while I dread calculating calories and planning to the dot, in order to start burning fats is when you adhere to a certain 'calorie-flow' (So called to resemble the word cash flow =P). Whatever calorie comes in via food needs to be balanced with outflow (e.g. exercise, and thinking!! =P).
With that in mind, I did some googling and found out that the recommended daily calorie intake for an adult woman is about 1900-2000cal. Hmm... sounds like a lot, until I check the nutritional facts for my favourite chocolate bar... 230kcal. OMG!! No wonder ppl get fat~! *eye opener* Though this small example made me realise the importance of calorie counting, I decided I am still not becoming those ppl who have no life counting calorie. If I wanna do it, I wanna do it the smart way (AKA lazy way)~! So I downloaded this app, i.e. : MyFitnessPal from iTunes for free.
Simple: Just input your name, your ideal weight, your current weight, the length of your diet/exercise and your lifestyle. Then this app would calculate the approximate amount of calorie flow per day in order for you to lose weight. For mine, I heard a lot of friends mentioned that I should be weighing 50kg (though I keep insisting that I have heavy bones), I'll see whether it is possible.
# Record down what you have been eating, including snacks too!!
# When you are trying to lose weight, don't forget to make sure you don't loss out on those important nutrients~!
Main thing is to record your meals and exercise for each day. This app searches through the web for the nutritional value and calorie content of the food and automatically calculates the amount of calorie you consumed. Similarly, you can choose from a wide range of exercise database to find out how much 5 minutes of walking can burn (psst... not much... not even enough to burn off my usual favourite ice green tea)
If, like me, you cook not according to conventional recipes most of the time, you can create recipe within the app and the app will calculate the calorie content of the food based on the ingredients you choose.
# Weekly view and average of my calorie intake
# Record and track your weight and weight loss
# WHAT have I been eating?? So cute... even got a pie chart to show you this. :P
Hopefully I can reach my goal before Christmas~!
Till next time, XOXO~!
